Strawberry Protein Smoothie

Hello!

{This is a re-post but with so many people drinking protein smoothies and going on our Cinch Body Transformation Challenge, I though you would enjoy this again!)

Today I want to share a simple and healthy smoothie recipe with you.  Well, it is not a recipe per say but I will just tell you what I do.

My family LOVES smoothies!!!

We make them ALL the time, especially during the summer!  It is a great healthy meal that requires little prep and clean-up time plus it is a great way to get you’re your family to eat a healthy meal!

We make them a little different everyday because we just use what is on hand.  I don’t think
I ever had a smoothie that I didn’t like.

I will just show you what I made today.  If you follow me on facebook, then you already know, lol!

I started with lots of fresh strawberries (I usually use frozen but these were on sale and I didn’t have time to freeze these.)

We like a lot of strawberries! Smile

Then I added 2 bananas and some milk.

2011 07 18_6743

I don’t measure the milk, I just pour (or have the kids help me.)

2011 07 18_6744

I ALWAYS add a quality protein to make it a complete meal.  This is especially important
with breakfast.

2011 07 18_6745

I always let the kids take turns pushing the buttons, lol!  Why do they always fight over that?

2011 07 18_6751

We bring it to a nice vortex.

2011 07 18_6752

Since we didn’t use frozen bananas or strawberries, I had the kids add ice through the top
one at a time.

2011 07 18_6753

Then we enjoy!!! Smile

2011 07 18_6755

We ALL enjoy these shakes and it is super easy and healthy!!!

Cleaning Tip:
Wash your blender right away before the shake starts to harden on to the blender.

What is your favorite smoothie?

Spring Inspiration: Patio garden designs for apartment and backyard!

Spring has the quality of freshness and beauty! It is colorful and energetic and the ideal time to be outdoors. If you have been thinking about adding a garden to your patio, this post has some gorgeous designs to get you totally smitten!

Be it a small apartment balcony or a luxurious backyard patio space, make the most of the wonderful spring time and delight your senses with a fabulous garden. Enjoy an early morning breakfast or a romantic dinner in your own beautiful sensuous garden.

A select color theme and rustic appeal! Serene and stress free, unwind in your own oasis of spring bounty. Repurpose baskets, old crates, watering cans etc for this eclectic cottage style garden!

For a really small patio use contrast to work for you! Paint rails a neutral shade, and remember darker colors make patio look larger. Few bright colorful flowers will look clutter free. Perfect spot for conversation!!

Hang shelves from the rail, this way you can rotate the flowering pots! Use light weight pottery that can be moved easily. Make sure to leave the floor space open for patio furniture for you to sit back and enjoy!!

For those who love mature plants and topiary, this is a fabulous design. Add just a few mature plants for easy maintenance. Mix water saver in the soil for spring florals, to help retain moisture. Less of daily watering!

Choose your plants wisely! Consider the sun/shade, dimension of the patio, growth and maturity of the plants you are choosing. Visit local nurseries for suggestions. Use pottery of different heights to add more density and depth to your garden!

Mixing pots and urns of different size and shape can make for a very appealing look. Keep the color palette similar to avoid color clashes. The patio should look like a peaceful artistic adobe for your senses!

With the space constraint of a patio, boxes mounted on rails leave room for entertaining. Mix colorful spring flowers to brighten up the area, add small trees, bushes and create your own little zen world :c)

Why is it so hard to keep a house clean when I feel like we are hardly home?

Good morning!! :)  We have an amazing guest post from Krysta today.  I love this one. :)  Thanks Krysta!!

Hi everyone!

It’s Krysta from Steen Health Solutions and I’m back today with a post about chores and kids! My boys are 10 and 9, and we have tried various way of getting them more involved in chores, but we haven’t been very diligent about being consistent.

Why is it so hard to keep a house clean when I feel like we are hardly home? Shouldn’t it stay cleaner? But, I digress.

I have noticed more of a lack of the boys wanting to help or complaining when asked to do something, and I’d had enough! I came across some great ideas on Pinterest, and decided to implement one of them and give it a shot. We’ve been pretty successful so far!

First off, I found the printables over at Whatever Dee Dee Wants. I really liked that there was so many different chores that she had listed.

I will tell you that this is not a quick DIY project to complete if you have a hour to spare! I actually did it over a few days – the cutting off all the chores was giving me hand cramps! :)

So, gather your supplies: paper cutter, scissors, Mod Podge, large craft sticks, sponge applicator.

I bought craft sticks in both color and natural, but ended up only using the natural ones.
I started out by cutting the chore pages into strips.

The kids got a kick out of the “veto” ones. :)

Then I carefully cut around each chore. This was the most time consuming part!

I decided to paint the craft sticks white, just to make it look a little cleaner.

I only did 1 coat, but probably should’ve done 1 more. I was just anxious to get it done. :)

Here’s the finished product! (yes, I know it says “Chore Jar”, and these are cans, but just try to overlook that-hahaha!). I covered the cans with scrapbook paper and then used letter stickers to do the names.

Even the parents get their own! (Mike is thrilled!)

We’ve been using them for about a week and the boys are actually ASKING to pick out chores! We are doing 1 chore a day and then 3 on Saturdays. That may evolve a bit, but we’ll try that routine for a while.
Here’s Kaden just yesterday, hard at work.

It is still simple, yet decorated! :)  That’s how I like it!!!

Over here, on my little table, I just moved some things around and added my hat topiary.

So cute!

I also added my sweet yellow bunny!  I just go crazy over cute bunnies, heehee!

Lastly, I added this little guy to my kitchen counter.  I got all my bunnies from garage sales…YES!
